Welcome!
My name is Vladimir Kalabanov.
I am a Systems Research Engineer and a Full-Stack Hardware & Software Developer with a multi-disciplinary background in electronics, mechanics, programming, psychology, and fire safety engineering.
Since 2010, I have operated an independent B2B consulting practice focused on the end-to-end development of automation systems and IoT devices. Acting as a System Architect and Tech Lead, my expertise spans the entire product lifecycle: from initial client consultations (gathering business requirements and drafting technical specifications) to system architecture, coordinating cross-functional experts (e.g., backend developers), firmware coding, and mass production.
R&D and Scientific Background
My engineering approach is deeply rooted in rigorous scientific and experimental methodology. During my academic research, I developed several working prototypes of a linear flame detector utilizing the chemo-ionization effect, one of which was successfully patented. My background includes authoring scientific papers, designing complex experiments, and translating physical processes into functional mathematical models.
Today, my embedded systems operate successfully across various sectors, including industrial manufacturing, scientific research, health & beauty tech, agriculture, and consumer electronics. Several of my projects have received grants and exhibition awards, and are actively used in university laboratories and educational programs.
Core Competencies:
- Hardware Engineering: Delivered over 50 turnkey projects. Expertise in custom electronics design, sensor integration, communication systems, and electro-mechanical control.
- Software & Firmware: Deep experience with microcontrollers (most frequently used: STM32, ESP, nRF, AVR) using C and Assembly. Desktop application development (C/C++, Java), as well as integrating hardware solutions with server-side infrastructure (Linux, Raspberry Pi).
- Heavy Mechanics & Automotive: Practical experience in setting up, repairing, and retrofitting CNC machinery. Designing, calculating, and building custom automotive vehicles and special-purpose transport (including ATVs and amphibious vehicles).
- Prototyping & Manufacturing: Streamlined manual and modular assembly, mass PCB soldering. I own and operate a fully equipped private laboratory for electronics R&D, testing, and repair.
- Engineering Leadership & Human Factors: Proven track record of building and leading Embedded engineering departments from the ground up. My academic background in Psychology (Human Resources) enables me to effectively manage cross-functional team dynamics and apply human-factor principles to design highly intuitive user interfaces.
