WatchDog_Max USB (WD_Max / WD) is the ultimate tier of our hardware watchdog timer lineup. It is a comprehensive hardware-software solution designed to automatically hard-reset a PC, mining rig, server, or unattended terminal in the event of a system freeze or software crash. PC reboots can be executed using one of five advanced sequences. The software can monitor the local network connection to Claymore (or any other local application via a local IP address). Furthermore, when paired with the optional Controlled Socket, the system can automatically power-cycle external network equipment (routers, switches, etc.) if the global internet connection drops.
The System Includes:
- The USB WatchDog module (Hardware device);
- Controlled Socket;
- Device driver;
- Desktop application software.
Key Features:
- Simple installation and configuration;
Utilizes solid-state relays (SSR) for both the “Reset” and “Power” circuits, providing full galvanic isolation from the motherboard. This significantly increases reliability and completely eliminates the need to observe polarity when connecting to the “Reset” and “Power” headers;
Five distinct PC reboot sequences:
1. Standard reboot via the “Reset” pins.
2. Reboot via the “Power” pins based on timed intervals (the “Power” circuit is closed for a set duration to force shutdown, released, paused for a set duration, and closed again to turn the PC back on).
3. Reboot via the “Power” pins with USB power-loss monitoring (the “Power” circuit is closed until the 5V USB power disappears indicating shutdown, released, paused for a set duration, and closed again to turn the PC back on).
4. Reboot via both “Reset” and “Power” based on timed intervals (the “Reset” circuit is closed, released, and after a set pause, the “Power” shutdown sequence is initiated as in option 2).
5. Reboot via both “Reset” and “Power” with 5V USB power-loss monitoring (similar to option 4, but utilizing the 5V USB monitoring from option 3 for the Power cycle). - Intuitive desktop software interface;
- Informative status LED indicating the current operational state of the device;
Powered by a robust 32-bit microcontroller featuring a native hardware USB interface and an internal fallback watchdog to prevent the module itself from freezing; - Software integration to verify the active operation of Claymore (or any other local application featuring a Web interface/network access port), triggering a PC reboot if the app becomes unresponsive;
- Configurable boot-loop protection (automatically restarts the PC if it fails to boot properly);
- Ability to monitor a global external IP address (WAN), and automatically power-cycle connected network equipment via the Controlled Socket if the internet connection is lost;
- Non-polarized Controlled Socket connection (no need to observe polarity when connecting it to the watchdog module);
- Audible buzzer alerts duplicate all PC and network equipment reboot events;
Automatic resumption of watchdog monitoring once the PC successfully boots after a reboot.
System Requirements:
- Available USB port;
- “Reset” and “Power” headers on the motherboard;
- OS: Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10, Linux;
- JRE 1.7.0 or higher.
Installation:
Connects to a USB port and to the motherboard’s “Reset” and “Power” headers (replacing the physical front-panel Reset and Power buttons).
Main Specifications:
- Power supply: 5V via USB;
- “Reset” and “Power” circuit closure: Dry contact, maximum resistance 35 Ohms;
- Reset/Power connection wire length: minimum 800 mm;
- Controlled Socket connection wire length: minimum 1000 mm;
- Controlled Socket operating voltage: 220 V AC;
- Controlled Socket maximum switched current: not exceeding 4 A.
